Guardando indietro a un altro anno ricco di eventi, mi piacerebbe ringraziarti per il tuo meraviglioso sostegno e l'attenzione per i nostri orsi. Continuando ad essere uno dei nostri specialissimi sostenitori dell'orso, ci permetti di provvedere al tuo orso e mantenere il nostro centro di recupero.

Poiché ad autunno inoltrato aumentano gli appetiti degli orsi, sono state date a tutti porzioni extra del loro cibo preferito.

Ora che l'inverno e' arrivato, la maggior parte degli orsi e' meno attiva, dormono di più, mangiano meno e trascorrono più tempo nelle loro tane. Anche se i loro mantelli sono diventati più spessi anche noi li aiutiamo a mantenerle accoglienti e calde con foglie fresche in più e paglia per riempire i loro letti - e anche qualcosa da masticare, se ne hanno voglia!

Negli ultimi 12 mesi, il nostro lavoro per porre fine alle fattorie della bile di orso è stato aiutato da un sostegno continuo e crescente di persone in Cina, che hanno raccolto in modo così forte e incoraggiante la chiamata a fermare questo crudele commercio.

L'anno è iniziato con un grande sospiro di sollievo perche' il nostro Centro di Recupero dell'Orso in Vietnam era finalmente al sicuro dalla minaccia di sfratto. Non avremmo potuto farcela a superare i mesi di preoccupazione, senza l'incredibile supporto di tutti coloro che lo hanno a cuore.

In una vera e propria battaglia di Davide e Golia moderna, ci avevano avvertito che il risultato sarebbe stato scarso, ma la verità e la giustizia prevalso e siamo così incredibilmente felici di poter stare ancora li' e costruire altre casette per i nuovi orsi.

Siamo stati anche felicissimi di relazionare sull'impressionante salvataggio del nuovo anno di sei orsi molto malati da una fattoria illegale in Cina – il recupero che hanno fatto riscalda il cuore e ora si sono felicemente ambientati nelle loro nuove case. La natura ci ha tenuti occupati in estate, quando la squadra del nostro santuario in Cina ha dovuto affrontare la minaccia di inondazioni e di acque alte nel fiume adiacente, che hanno distrutto parte del terrapieno di protezione. Fortunatamente il santuario è rimasto illeso, ma siamo stati travolti dal sostegno ricevuto da quanti lo hanno a cuore.

Il 2013 ha segnato anche due grandi anniversari - il 20 ° anniversario della mia prima visita ad una fattoria della bile di orso in Cina, e il 15 ° anniversario della fondazione della Animals Asia. Sono stata felicissima che il giorno del nostro 15 ° anniversario, 150 farmacie in Cina ci hanno aiutato a festeggiare unendosi alla nostra campagna “Guarire senza Danni” , impegnandosi a non vendere o prescrivere prodotti a base di bile di orso. Sono lieto di comunicare che, ad oggi, oltre 1.000 farmacie hanno fatto di questo un impegno.

Grazie per aver dato ad uno dei nostri orsi la possibilità di vivere una vita priva di dolore e torture.

As we look back an another eventful year I'd like to thank you for your wonderful support and care for our bears. By continuing to be one of our very special bear sponsors you enable us to provide for your bear and maintain our rescue center.

As autumn progressed the bears' appetites increased and they were all given extra portions of their favourite food.

Now that winter has set in, most of the bears are less active, sleeping more, eating less and spending more time in their dens. Although their coats have become thicker we also help them keep cosy and warm whith extra fresh leaves and straw to pad their beds – and to chew on if they feel like it, too!

Over the last 12 months, our work to end bear bile farming has been bouyed by continued and increasing support from people in China who have so loudly and encouragingly taken up the call to stop this cruel trade.

The year started whit a huge sigh of relief that our Bear Rescue Centre in Vietnam was finally safe from the threat of eviction. We couldn't have made it through the months of worry without the incredible support of all those who care.

In a true modern-day David and Goliath battle, we were warned that the outcome would be poor but truth and justice prevailed and we're so incredibly pleased to be staying on site AND building more enclosures for new bears.

We were also overjoyed to report on the emotional new year rescue of six very sick bears from an illegal farm in China – all of whom have made a heart-warming recovery and are now happily settled in their new homes. Nature kept us busy in the summer, when the team at our China sanctuary was faced with the threat of flooding – and high waters in the adjacent river destroyed part of the protective embankment. Luckily the sanctuary remained unhamed, but we were overwhelmed by the support we received from those who care.

2013 also marked two big anniversaries – the 20^th anniversary of my very first visit to a bear bile farm in China, and the 15^th anniversary of the founding of Animals Asia. I was overjoyed that on the day of our 15^th anniversary 150 pharmacies in China helped us celebrate by joining our Healing without Harm campaign pledging not to sell or prescribe bear bile products. I'm delighted to report that, to date, over 1.000 pharmacies have made this pledge.

Thank you for giving one of our bears the chance to live a life free from pain and torture.
